Salutations, my name is Cameron James Deverall Kemp; I'm a Mathematical Physics PhD student in the School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Nottingham, supervised by Dr. Robert Laugwitz and Dr. Alexander Schenkel.
My thesis Derived Geometry and Higher Quantum Groups was successfully defended 18/11/2025 and resubmitted with minor corrections 9/12/2025. Click here for a 2-page thesis summary.
Research interests
Homotopy Lie algebras, their representation theory and higher gauge theory.
Derived algebraic geometry, shifted symplectic/Poisson structures and deformation quantisation.
Quantum groups, braided monoidal (higher) categories and Hopf algebras.
I am particularly intrigued in the application of such topics to low-dimensional topology, conformal field theory, topological quantum field theory, quantum integrable systems and exactly solvable models. Click here for a 4-page research statement.
